Lauren Hunt

My name is Lauren Hunt, and I have been teaching for twelve years. A New England native, I graduated from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island, before teaching kindergarten in North Carolina. Following a passion for reading and teaching children to read, I received my master’s degree in reading education. After six years of teaching kindergarten, I became a learning specialist and was thrilled to use my training. I have had the honor of working with children of all ages, levels, and abilities. I believe that teaching is a combination of direct, explicit instruction, fostering a love of learning, and building confidence. My training in Orton-Gillingham has helped me to provide the best approach to teaching children how to read. My husband and I have two children who share my love of reading and the beach. We love playing outside as much as possible, and we enjoy the warmer winter months.  I am so happy to be part of the EDS family.
