WELCOME FROM THE EDS PTA!

The Episcopal Day School PTA is an integral part of students’ learning experiences at the school. Importantly, the PTA is the primary vehicle for volunteerism at EDS, and it is open to all parents. By being at EDS, a parent is automatically a member of the association. There is a wide variety of committees that provide valuable service to the school, as well as organize several major events for children and adults, including our Awesome Autumn Festival and our Candlelight Tour of Homes. Proceeds from general fundraising activities are used to enrich the classrooms and the campus itself. Parent volunteers are essential to the success of Episcopal Day School.

President –  Leigh Amigo - My husband and I have three gators at EDS, two sons (2nd and 4th grades) and a daughter (Kindergarten Prep). I am a military spouse and local Real Estate Broker as well, so I am fully invested in this community. I served as PTA president year before last, and I am looking forward to taking on that role again this year to do great things with our teachers and families.

Faculty/Staff Liaison to PTA - Jill Hutchison - I am the Academic Support Coordinator for EDS, working directly with faculty and staff to support academic and curriculum matters within the classroom setting and for the school as a whole. Previously, I taught 3rd grade here, and I have two daughters who also attended EDS. I will be representing the faculty/staff and assisting with “all things PTA” again this year.

Secretary – Meredith Bolton - My husband, Trey Bolton, and I are the parents of three EDS Gators! Mary Bradley is in first grade, and Tip and Lee are both in the ECP program. I am a sales manager/producing loan officer with Main Street Home Loans. We are active members of First Baptist Church Southern Pines. I am happy to be serving as PTA secretary for a second year.

Treasurer –Katie Jarmusz - My husband, Adam, and I have three sons. Harvey is a third grader at EDS this school year. I was an active duty Army finance officer working with budgets and disbursements of funds, and then I transitioned into the Army Reserve. I currently teach the Intermediate Level Education (ILE) course at Fort Liberty. I have served in the role of PTA treasurer for the past three years and look forward to continuing that role this year!

Episcopal Day School PTA Sponsored Committees & Events

EDS PTA committees provide an excellent way to volunteer at the school.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation      All Year (September Kick-Off)

This committee works together throughout the school year to show the teachers and staff of EDS how much they are appreciated by the parents and students.  Volunteers are responsible for helping organize appreciation luncheons, staff meeting refreshments, as well as other random acts of kindness throughout the year.

Box Tops/Labels for Education      All Year

This committee designs an incentive program to get the students and teachers clipping.  Several times during the school year box tops/labels for education are collected and the class with the most is rewarded with a small token of appreciation.  It is the responsibility of the committee to sort and mail the box tops/labels for education collected from each classroom.

School Pictures Fundraiser     Fall

Pictures are taken during the fall of each school year.  This committee coordinates with a professional photographer to take individual photos of the students, assists the teachers on the day of the photo session, and help to make sure parents receive the necessary information about the ordering process.

Awesome Autumn     October

Awesome Autumn is a greatly loved family event that is an evening for fellowship, costumes, games, and prizes.  This committee works to create a carnival atmosphere in the Parish Hall for all to enjoy.  Volunteers assign each classroom a booth to be in charge of for the evening, are in charge of coordinating set up the morning of the event and clean up after the event.

Candlelight Tour of Homes      December

This fundraiser has been an Episcopal Day School Tradition for the past 39 years and the EDS PTA’s largest fundraiser of the year.  This committee coordinates the logistics of procuring homes, marketing the event, creating brochures and tickets, and organizing ticket sales and entertainment as well as ensuring we have enough host/hostesses the day of the event.
